The Laboratory of Statistical Research and Data Analysis is a research unit of the University of Latvia Faculty of Physics, Mathematics and Optometry. The laboratory was established in 2017 with the aim to provide consultations to UL students and staff on issues related to statistical methods and their application. The laboratory is also engaged in research and involved in the study process of the University of Latvia.

The Laboratory of Statistical Research and Data Analysis is open for cooperation with other research project implementers.


The laboratory provides the following services:

  • Classical methods of statistics – hypothesis testing, tests, ANOVA, regression models, time series analysis, etc.
  • Multidimensional analysis methods and data mining
  • Application and development of specialized models – risk models, customer behaviour and segmentation models, etc.
  • Independent evaluation of models and results

Methodological support in research design and preparation of publications, especially in the field of life and medical sciences:

  • Sample surveys, choice of methods, power analysis
  • Choice of statistical methods for non-standard situations
  • Summary and interpretation of results
  • Statistics
  • Data analysis methods
  • R, SPSS and other statistical programs
