Science and research play an important role in the activities of the Faculty of Physics, Mathematics and Optometry of the University of Latvia.
The faculty has nine research structural units that perform not only in Latvia, but also internationally recognized research and give students the opportunity to gain experience in research by working in real, technologically internationally competitive laboratories.
Research are financed by the University of Latvia, as well as research projects and programs of the European Union and the Latvian Council of Science, international cooperation projects and other industrial customers, as well as state and local government funds.
